I See You... Or Do I?

None of us is an island unto ourselves.  Any perception we may have to the contrary is merely an illusion. I will grant you that the illusion is strong and hard to break, but it is breakable. If we choose to get past it we can and should chip away at it, stripping away the mistaken notions that allow it to persist as we discover them. If we do not do this the illusion will continue to keep us separate from others and ourselves.  The source of this illusion of separateness is our own mind.

Some have suggested to me that even if there is an illusion everyone has the same one, hence it does not really matter. They also question what the value of seeing through it would be, if that is even possible. My answers have generally been to state that it doesn’t really matter unless one decides it does and ignorance is not always bliss.

Twin Powers LogoTaking Ownership Over Our Energy

One of the bi-products of our lack of awareness is that we are mostly unaware of the source of the thoughts and feelings we have as well as the consequences of the energies we manifest. We go about our lives having thoughts and feelings while almost completely unaware of the consequences of them. In this case I am not referring to the fact we have them, as that is something I have looked at many times. Instead, I am speaking about what happens to the energies we manifest and how they affect us mostly without our being aware of them. Some might call it blissful ignorance, but that is not accurate. In fact, the energies we manifest are real and affect us and those around us even though we are not conscious of it.

These energies can have a significant effect on us even though we are generally not aware of it. In this composition we will look at why it is important to deal with the energies we manifest, the sources of such energies, how they affect us and what we can do to reduce the affect. In help explain these things I will cite some examples from my life. While I will primarily focus on lower energies, the same principle applies to all such as higher emotions (such as compassion, sympathy, devotion, affection and so on).

Releasing Pain

Life can be a wonderful experience that allows us to be joyous, laugh, play, and share with others, be creative and explore and learn about the mysteries that are all around us. Even though our experiences shape our lives in pretty much every way, whether we actually enjoy life or not depends mostly on us and the choices we make. What detracts from the quality of our lives is the amount of pain our experiences trigger in us and also how we experience and react to that pain. This is also a choice we make, though in both cases choices we are likely not aware we made.

It may seem an oversimplification, but the fact is: if we want to enjoy life more we either have to encounter less pain or learn to deal with pain differently. This should lead one to realize that we cannot exert much control over how much pain we encounter, but we can learn to deal with pain differently. I cannot possible explore every type of pain we can feel, though we will cover a considerable amount of ground. The intent is to share ideas about pain that you can take away, consider and which you can apply to your own lives.

And What of Evil?

Over my years of exploring, learning, writing and teaching I have been asked many questions, often they are the same question just asked from a different angle and I have explored a number of them in various essays. One of the most common ones I have not explored relates to the notion of evil and acts perceived as evil. Nor have all the conversations about it “gone well”, as I have had to end a number of them when the reactions of people have become so intense, even leading to verbal attacks, that continuing would do little more than create even stronger emotional reactions. This would negate any value that could be gained by discussing it.

Anyone who pays attention to the news has read about the acts of individuals or groups of people that appear to them as evil and there have been a number of these in recent months that have brought this question to the fore. I am speaking about actions to such acts as someone who kills a number of people and extend this to extend this to governments and dictators that start wars, or engage in acts such as genocide of various degrees, assassinations and so forth. Evil is a very challenging topic because it is misunderstood and for many the term itself tends to evoke strong emotional reactions. People react to what they perceive as evil though the tendency is to only notice what they believe to be “great evil” while overlooking lesser forms of it.

Twin Powers LogoDeveloping Our Spiritual Foundation

I have met many people over my lifetime that are seeking enlightenment or pursuing greater awareness. This is wonderful and can be very beneficial if done properly; however, it is not always the panacea that many believe it will be. The reason is that developing ourselves requires more than knowledge, it requires us to build our awareness on many levels and in many areas so that we stay in balance as we grow. When we are out of balance we find that we can feel disconnected from those in our lives or from the world as a whole.

I am intimately and personally aware of how this can affect people. It can lead to general unhappiness, disillusionment and even angry, a sense of abandonment or even withdraw from ones daily life. As someone who shares knowledge that can aid people in developing their awareness it is incumbent upon me to also assist people in building a strong foundation so as to avoid these problems. This is the purpose of this composition.
